Things to do
The park is used by a large cross section of the community for a range of activities but Maryon Park and Maryon Wilson Park have some unique features.
Animal Care Center
The animal care center is in Maryon Wilson Park and is laid out around the parks entrance on Flamstead Road. It features a wide range of animals for your viewing pleasure.
There are three walking Trails through the parks:
The Capital Ring
The Green Chain Walk
Explore Charlton Trail
A revamp of the tennis courts has now made them a fun way of spending time in the park while getting some physical exercise.
One of the roles that the friends group performs is to be hands on with projects in the park and we appreciate any time you can spare.
Community Food Growing
Work has started on converting the overgrown plot of land that use to host the parks greenhouses into allotments for the Community Food Growing project. Read more about this here.
Friends of the Parks and volunteers form an informal working party on the first Saturday of every month to clear the park of litter and rubbish. Friends of the Park and volunteers meet at the Flamsteed Road entrance to Maryon Wilson Park, near the Staff Bothy and Yard at 10 a.m. Wear suitable clothing and gloves and help clear up the parks.
