First Saturday of the month- Come and help pick up stray litter in the park. Meet at 10am, Flamsteed Road entrance to Maryon Wilson Park.

We will mark the Big Lunch with an informal picnic on Sunday 1 June at 1pm. Please bring along food/drink to eat and share: Maryon Wilson Park, behind the houses at the bottom end of Kinveachy Gardens.

Big Dig Day Saturday 22nd March 2014 10 a.m – 4 p.m. – Open Day at the Maryon Park Community Food Growing Garden.
The garden near the Maryon Road entrance to the park, past the lodge. Look out for the bunting. Help your local community garden get ready for the new growing season. See how the garden has developed since last year. Help to seed a wild flower meadow bank. Refreshments provided.

Saturday 1st October – This will be a special clear up of the Community Food Growing Area in Maryon Park. Tools, gloves, rubbish bags etc will be provided. Please meet at 10am by the Maryon Road gate. (You can also turn up at 10am at the usual meeting point of Flamsteed Road entrance to Maryon Wilson Park and then either choose to do normal litter picking in either park or be escorted to the Food Growing area in MP.)

Thursday 22nd September – A bat walk has been arranged by the Friends group. The walk will be led by an experienced bat enthusiast and we will be able to use bat detectors. You can learn how to use them on the evening but there are a limited number available so it will be necessary to take turns.

The maximum number of places on the walk is 24. You will need to wear stout shoes, and bring a torch. Please reserve a place by ringing the Friends mobile (07599 299 934) and leaving a message with your name and telephone number. Bats will not be visible if it is wet or very windy and the walk may have to be called off at short notice. Please ring on the day
if the weather conditions are unfavourable. We will meet at the Flamsteed Road entrance to the Maryon Wilson Park at 6.45 pm on Thursday 22nd September.

Saturday 21st May – Open Day The Friends will have a table as usual to promote our group and raise funds. If you can, please offer your help on our stall for an hour or more on the day – a rota of helpers will be drawn up. We would also appreciate help to set up from 9am onwards and/or to clear up after 4pm. If you have plants, books, good quality bric-a-brac etc for us to sell, please bring it early on the day.

Thursday 11th November – AGM meeting in the Nellie Raven room, St Thomas Church, Woodland Terrace. Please come for 7pm and refreshments and the sale of the 2010 Christmas Cards as well as exhibitions of this years photo’s and press cuttings. There should be a guess speaker as well as the elections for the committee positions for the next 12 months.

Saturday 25th July 2009 – There was a showing of the classic 1960s film ‘Blow Up’ in Maryon Park, where the film was set.
