FRIENDS OF MARYON AND MARYON WILSON PARKS

                                            Minutes of Meeting, May 2010

Venue: Kinveachy Gardens

Date: Thursday May 13th 2010

Present ( 10):  Tim (chair), Gulle  (treasurer),   Edna ,  Paul, Mickey, Pat ,  Jason,  John, Catherine, Christine.

1.  Apologies: Steve (secretary), Michelle and Cecil, Hazel, Andrew, Teri, Grace, Ashleigh.

2.  Minutes of last meeting: Accepted.

Matters arising:   No member had been able to attend the Walk Leader training day.  Due to no funding allocation, the Green Chain Walking Festival will not take place this year.

Maryon Park refurbishment: It was noted that the Labour Party’s literature for the council elections made mention of making Maryon into a Green Flag park. The meeting noted the commitment, but no action yet.

3.  Clear-up Days:   The May clear-up had been a good session with plenty of bags filled. Thanks to those who attended.

4.  Motor cyclists and quad bikes in park:

In addition to member Andrew earlier report and photos of motorbike activity, Mickey reported that Maryon Park was being frequented. Following discussion, it was suggested that taking photos of offenders could be confrontational and probably not recommended. Instead, keep reporting to community police (the Safer Neighbourhood Teams). As has been noted before, there are two different wards between the two parks. If offenders are actually endangering members of the public, it is reasonable to dial 999.

Slips to be produced for members and park users with the numbers to call and the sign with an incorrect mobile number by Flamsteed Road entrance to be replaced. Updated numbers will be placed on the website and are as follows:
